Depending on the process and purpose of the ID verification, the process can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.

There are three types of verification processes:

• One-time self-registration in the FTx Identity mobile app or website. Sign up, add personal information, and upload your ID for verification.

  You only have to go through this process once. The process time might depend on how quickly you go through the entire process. Overall, the one-time registration process takes 5 to 10 minutes. However, the ID verification process during the one-time registration can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute.

• This online verification process happens every time you purchase regulated products in a store with FTx Identity integration.

  After successfully registering with FTx Identity through ID verification, the verification process at the store is simple since you only need to present your one-time QR code or opt for facial recognition and get verified in seconds.

• Verification process at stores that don’t have FTx Identity integration.

  At stores that don’t have FTx Identity integration, you’ll have to provide your ID for age verification, which might take a few minutes depending on their age verification software’s speed.

Age verification verifies date of birth to ensure a customer is over the required age to buy age-restricted products. While verifying age, the software primarily verifies the age mentioned in government identification against government records. Your address and other identity-related information are not accessed. Age verification is mostly required in retail stores that sell tobacco, liquor, and different age-restricted products, or for helping websites verify age. It protects merchants from penalties or legal actions under the laws prohibiting the sale of age-restricted products to minors or individuals under a certain age.
